System Sizing

Every Solar + Battery installation is unique, but will typically fall into one of four categories. For simplicity, we have prepared a clear, visual guide to reference so you can understand what to expect based on different sized systems. Please note, there are many variables, such as roof type that can effect your price.

Energy is dynamic, and your consumption varies based on many internal, external and environmental factors. For that reason, it is impossible to guarantee pricing, savings and what your future energy consumption will be. What we can guarantee, is that we pride ourselves on craftsmanship, transparency and high quality future proof systems.

Understanding Your Solar + Battery Installation: A Visual Guide to System Types and Expectations

Our process

Phases of Solar + Battery Installation

The Solar + Battery Design & Installation can be broken into 4 primary phases.

Hands holding a mini solar panel

Our first step is to review the property site + utility electric bill. This information ensures the system is sized correctly to your energy needs. We will and consider future scenarios, such as adding Electric Vehicles.

Our second step is to do a site and roof inspection to ensure the appropriate materials are specified. Here we are looking for environmental factors such as tree and building shade, that may effect the efficiency of your system.

Step 3 is review all drawings + permitting. We are experts in building & compliance code navigation. Part of the initial pre-design process, is understanding any special requirements or unique zoning restrictions.

We will review your budget and address any concerns up-front to set expectations. Our goal is to save you money while enabling energy independence. Our preliminary quote will be accurate to within 10-15%, however adding panels and battery capacity may change the quote significantly.

A blueprint of a house with solar panels

Our first step in this phase is to layout the Solar Array to scale on your roof, to ensure the panels will fit as designed, accounting for roof vents and other environmental factors. This step enables us to create a detailed bill of materials to ensure the budget and timeline is accurate.

A group of people sitting around a table

Our second step is to create electrical diagrams for permit submittal and to provide a detailed guide for our installation team, that shows how the various system components work with each other.

We submit the documents to the necessary government agencies operating in your area. Agencies may come back and request changes. We will navigate this process for you from start to finish, and will keep you updated to ensure the project expectations are met.

Based on the above, we may need to adjust your budget. This could also include savings! We aim for our preliminary quote to be accurate to within 10-15%, however adding construction components, dry wall, additional panels and battery capacity may change the quote significantly.

Once the permit has been approved, we begin preparing the materials for the job based on the plan sets. We deliver our materials to the site on the morning of the installation.

Our first step is site markings to review placement. We then begin installing the mounting hardware & racking system to the roof. Once the Solar Panels are installed, we begin to set up the Inverter and Battery System. The inverter converts the power from the Battery + Solar Panels from DC to AC.

The final step involves making all necessary electrical connections with rated conduit. This includes connecting the solar panel array to the inverter and then linking the inverter to the home's main power supply and the battery storage.

After all connections are made, the system is thoroughly tested to ensure it functions correctly and safely before it is put into operation.
